Join Catalina for a two-day hand-building weekend where you’ll explore the rich history of clay and transform it into functional pieces, just as humans have done since prehistoric times.

 

This weekend is hands-on, creative, and deeply grounding, offering a moment out of time where you slow down, shape, play, and discover what your hands are capable of.

Course Program

​​​

This course is both playful and informative, guiding you through the essential steps of the hand-building process. You’ll explore the evolving textures of clay, learn how to assemble forms with slip, and sculpt your pieces at the leather-hard stage to add refined details and personal character.

​

Over the weekend, you will discover three ancestral techniques: pinching, coiling, and slabbing, and create a piece with each method. By the end, you’ll proudly leave with four handmade functional pieces, and like many participants, you may be surprised by how much your hands can achieve in just two days.

Please note that this course does not include the potter’s wheel. We offer a separate introductory wheel course.

The course will be conducted in English and the teacher also speaks French and Spanish.

The introductory course is limited to 8 participants, creating a warm, intimate environment of 16 hands working together.
