Join Catalina over a weekend for a hands-on pottery course where you'll explore the rich history of clay, transforming it into functional vessels just as it has been done since prehistoric times.

Course Program

This course is both playful and informative, designed to introduce you to the fundamental steps of the hand-building process. Through various exercises, you'll learn about the evolving textures of clay, how to work with them, how to assemble pieces using slip, and how to sculpt clay at the "leather hard" stage for refined details and uniqueness. By the end of the course, you'll proudly take home 4 to 5 hand-made, functional objects.

You'll discover three ancestral hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slabbing, and create a pottery vessel using each method.

Please note: This course does not include the potter's wheel technique. We offer a separate introductory course for that approach, which we recommend taking after this hand-building course.

Language

The course will be conducted in English and the teacher also speaks French.

Small Group

The introductory course is limited to 8 participants, creating a warm, intimate environment of 16 hands working together.

Become a Studio Member after the Course

After completing this course, you'll be welcomed into our Studio Members Community, where you'll have access to our Membership Passes. This allows you to continue practicing what you've learned and create all sorts of weird and wonderful hand-made pieces.
