Member Session - STUDIO WHEEL
Book a potter's wheel in our studio for 2:30 hrs of throwing/trimming
Service Description
๐ PRACTICING AT YOUR OWN PACE ๐ Member sessions are not set up as a โclassโ format but provide you with the opportunity to work more autonomously on your clay projects. Youโll use all the tools and equipment in our shared studio, be inspired by other members around you, and receive technical support from our friendly staff when needed. ๐ IN THE STUDIO ๐ ๐ธEach wheel is equipped with a kit of fundamental tools necessary for throwing and trimming. Our shelves provide additional tools and equipment. ๐ธ5 types of stoneware clays and porcelain are available for purchase by the kilo (recycled or directly from the quarry). ๐ธWe offer 12 colored slips (engobes) and more than 18 glazes to choose from. ๐ธFiring fees are based on the volume of each piece before bisque firing. ๐ธWe ask all members to follow our safety guidelines to ensure we can continue pottering safely. ๐ STAFF ๐ A qualified ceramicist is always present in the studio to welcome you, guide you in the studio space and with tools, support your projects as needed, and ensure general order in the workshop. Our staff members are bilingual, speaking either English-French or English-Dutch, with the aim of accommodating you in the language you are most comfortable with. ๐ IDEAL AFTER AN INTRODUCTION COURSE ๐ Since ceramics is a technical craft, it is important that you complete one of our introduction courses (hand-building, throwing, or glazing) before booking a wheel during a member session. We want to ensure everyone starts their clay journey well-prepared and informed. During member sessions, our staff is available for advice but not for full beginner tutoring. ๐ STORAGE ๐ As we are a small studio, storage needs to be managed efficiently. We provide personal storage space for members during their membership pass but not for those who book a one-off member session. Personal storage boxes should be emptied and cleaned at the end of your pass. ๐ MEMBERSHIP PASS ๐ For better value and regular ceramic practice, we recommend purchasing member sessions with a membership pass. (Available for purchase on the next step when you click โbook nowโ on this page.) ๐ BOOKING JUST ONE MEMBER SESSION ๐ You can book a single member session if you need to glaze your final pieces or finish a project. This option is not intended for occasional or sporadic use, as there are at least 3 different stages in the ceramic process, each requiring dedicated attention and storage space.
